The structures will offer ‘first reception’ for the victims
The Italian Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, announced this Friday (25), the creation of a network of hotels in solidarity with women victims of violence, which will host both women and their children.
“We have created the national network of solidarity hotels ‘Here you are not alone’ to deal with the emergency demonstrated by Istat data of the lack of structures capable of accommodating women, even with children, who are victims of abuse”, said Santanchè on International Day for the elimination of violence against women.
The idea, according to the minister, is that these structures “provide rooms for initial reception”. “Our goal is to create a map of the hotels that have joined the initiative and there are already more than a thousand structures that are part of the network and have accepted our requests”, he explains.
In addition to the Government, various Italian organizations and trade unions have joined the initiative with their associates, such as Federalberghi, Unipol Sai, Federturismo, CNA Turismo and Assohotel.
“I appreciate the quick response and great spirit shown [pelas entidades]🇧🇷 Everyone’s role is to work together to achieve results in the fight against violence. Let’s join our voices to prevent, raise awareness and protect women with concrete actions so that they no longer feel alone”, concluded Santanchè.
According to an Istat report released this Thursday (25), 119 women were murdered in 2021, 100 of whom were victims of people from their family circle or companions and ex-partners.
Unconsolidated figures for this year already indicate 104 victims of femicide in the country, according to the government. 🇧🇷
