At least 81 people were arrested during a wild demonstration against the pension reform in Piazza Italia on Saturday evening, a police source said, as quoted by BFMTV.

For the third time in a row, it was a very tense evening in the heart of the capital, despite the fact that gatherings in Concorde Square were prohibited.

More than 4,000 people gathered south of the capital and many radical elements infiltrated the march before turning violent and setting fires.

Garbage bins and street furniture were completely burnt before police intervened with tear gas and water cannon to disperse the demonstrators.

The presence of the BRAV-M (Motorized Violent Actions Repression Brigade), deployed in large numbers, was particularly noticeable throughout the evening with personnel chasing, on motorcycles and on foot, demonstrators they suspected of belonging to the violent movement. .

At around 10:30 p.m., while police were urging the last demonstrators to leave the scene by subway, calls for gatherings in other areas of Paris multiplied.
