The donation was made after Libertadores won 2-1 in Caracas
Last Thursday Internacional won on and off the field (26). After beating Metropolitanos 2-1 at the UCV Olympic Stadium for the Libertadores, the players met other club professionals and crowdfunded the employees of the hotel they stayed at in Caracas, Venezuela.
According to GE, the partnership between players, a nutritionist and a physiologist has yielded a thousand dollars (about R$ 5 thousand) for the hotel employees. It should be noted that the country’s currency, the Bolívar, is devalued and therefore the government has invested in dollarization to overcome the economic crisis.
A construction of two interconnected towers in a country submerged by a socio-economic, political and humanitarian crisis: this is the hotel that received the Internacional delegation. The space also has rooms adapted to host weddings, a spa and commercial shops.
Despite having come out of the worst phase of the economic crisis and recording GDP growth in 2022, the reality is still cruel to the inhabitants of Venezuela. Residents face difficulties due to low salaries, with amounts so negligible that those who work for the state, for example, are forced to seek a second income in private companies.
Recently, unions in various public sectors have mobilized to demand wage increases and more investment in their areas. In April, the country’s minimum wage fell by 82% against the dollar.
