At 1.93m, the player raises the average height of the vinegro attack
Santos is preparing for the rest of the season and should arrive with some news. In training conducted by Odair Hellmann this week, the coach put Lucas Barbosa to the test in Alvinegro Praiano’s starting attack.
The athlete’s entry is optional due to the poor playing conditions of the forwards Soteldo (transition after total tendon rupture of the left pectoral muscle), Mendoza (hamstring injury of the left thigh) and Angelo (muscle oedema). Besides these players, Lucas Braga is not training, as he is going through a process of strengthening his pubis.
With Lucas Barbosa inheriting the post, the 1.93m youngster significantly increases Santos’ attacking stature. In the Alvinegro squad, Soteldo (1.59m), Ângelo (1.73m) and Mendoza (1.72m), often used among the starters, are not specialists in aerial play.
It is possible to be short and good at this type of game. Living proof of this is Rony, from Palmeiras, just 1.66m tall, with 5 header goals this year. Even so, having a few meters ahead is quite valuable.
Lucas Barbosa has already scored two goals this season and can increase Santos’ use of crosses. According to the data of Footstateven if they do not advance to the state knockout stage, Peixe are the fifth most crossing team in the competition.
