Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Georgian airline Georgian Airways, which recently resumed flights to Russia. The corresponding decree was signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The company’s founder, Tamaz Gaiashvili, also fell under the restrictions.
In total, more than 190 individuals (mainly citizens of the Russian Federation) and more than 290 legal entities, including companies from Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Kazakhstan, have been added to Ukraine’s sanctions lists .
On May 10, Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on Russian airlines flying to Georgia and canceled visas to the Russian Federation for Georgian citizens. The Russian airline “Azimuth” received a permit to operate flights to Georgia. Georgian Georgian Airways has become the second airline to receive permission to operate such flights. He was also received by the Russian Red Wings.
The Georgian authorities, for their part, announced that they would authorize direct flights from Russian airlines, but only those which were not subject to sanctions.
