Twitter owner, multi-billionaire Elon Musk has decided to step down as the company’s CEO. The entrepreneur made the corresponding statement on Thursday, May 11 in a microblog.

According to Musk, he has already found a successor in this position. He did not name her, adding that she would start work in about six weeks.

Elon Musk will himself serve as chairman of the board and chief technical officer of the company. He will continue to supervise the work of system administrators, monitor computer products and software.

Promised to step down as CEO

The Tesla and SpaceX founder once again topped Bloomberg’s ranking of the world’s richest people this year. Musk’s fortune, according to the agency on Feb. 28, rose to $187.1 billion amid growth in Tesla shares.

At the end of 2022, Elon Musk promised to step down as CEO of Twitter when he found a successor. “I’ll be stepping down as CEO as soon as I find someone dumb enough to take on the role. After that, I’ll just lead the software and server teams,” he wrote on Dec. 21.

Before that, Musk conducted an investigation. “Should I leave the head of Twitter? I will stick to the results of this survey,” the entrepreneur wrote. As a result, 57.5% of those who voted were in favor of his departure and 42.5% were against. 17.5 million accounts participated in the survey.

The businessman then did not announce any decision in relation to the results of the investigation, but indirectly indicated a mistrust of the results due to the possible intervention of bots.
