The model is the “spicy” version of the small 157 HP electric 500 capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds
After launching its first ever SUV in Brazil, Abarth presented the Abarth 500e on Tuesday 22, with which the Scorpion brand will definitively enter the universe of electrification. The model is up for pre-order in Europe, but only for the brand’s fan community. After that, the model will start being sold normally, in a introductory edition.
Visually, the Abarth 500e looks different, thanks to the new thicker front bumper, side skirts and rear diffuser. Inside, the small car features sports seats, leather upholstery with Alcantara details, a 7″ instrument panel and a multimedia center with a 10.25″ screen.
According to Abarth, its 500e is built on an unprecedented platform and not yet shared with any model in the Stellantis group. Thanks to this new base, the model is wider, has a longer wheelbase and better weight distribution than the 500 with internal combustion engine.
The Abarth 500e offers three driving modes: Trismo, for daily use, in which power and torque delivery are reduced, allowing for quieter and more economical use, Scorpion Street, with full delivery of 157 HP and maximum regeneration during deceleration and braking, ideal for use in urban traffic and Scorpion Track, in which the model adopts a configuration to offer maximum performance.
The Abarth 500e uses the same battery as the “conventional” version of the model, the Fiat 500e, with a capacity of 42 kWh, but did not reveal how much the increase in power interferes with the car’s range. The manufacturer, on the other hand, guarantees that in just 5 minutes of recharging it is possible to obtain around 50 km of autonomy and the procedure for “filling” the battery from 0 to 80% takes about 30 minutes.
The Abarth 500e will be launched in a very complete version, called Scorpionissima, but only for registered enthusiasts of the brand. The general public will have to wait until next year for the trolley to hit stores. The model is also expected in Brazil, where it should probably land from the second half of 2023.
